Les Pommiers

A cosy studio gite in a village setting, within walking distance from the sea

Les Pommiers is a restored studio gite, converted from an old bakery with a large, private orchard with apple and pear trees behind and a small walled courtyard adjacent. This is an ideal holiday gite for one or two people or a small family with a baby and/or toddler.
The studio is situated in the traditional seaside village of St Georges de la Riviere opposite a petit manoir and within a cluster of pretty stone houses. La rue bonvalet is a quiet road of traditional Norman stone houses, leading directly from the centre of the village to the beach (twenty minutes walk or five minutes by car). Les Pommiers has good-sized living/kitchen area and shower room on the ground floor with a short flight of old grenier attic) stairs (narrow treads) leading to the mezzanine with double bed and curtained balustrade. There is a comfortable sofabed in the living area.

Accommodation

  • Bedrooms - Mezzanine Bedroom 1 with double bed. There is a cot available.
  • Bathrooms - The shower room has a walk-in shower, washbasin and WC.
  • Kitchen - The kitchen/dining area is equipped with gas cooker, microwave oven, fridge, coffee-maker and washing machine.
  • Living area - The open-plan living area has a sofa/sofa-bed and armchairs. There is a DVD player/screen with a selection of DVDs, but no television reception. There is also a radio/CD player - the cottage has good reception for British FM radio stations. A good selection of books too.
  • Cleaning/towels/Linen/maid service - Bedlinen is not supplied but may he hired if requested (linen €10 per person). We ask guests to please bring their own towels (it is possible to hire if absolutely necessary). The property is cleaned before each booking and is requested to be left as found on arrival - cleaning materials are supplied (optional cleaning tariff of €40 on departure).

Notes on accommodation

The upper sleeping area is accessed by a short flight of 'grenier' (attic) stairs - these have narrow treads. The ground-floor kitchen/living area has a shower room adjoining with separate WC. Ideal accommodation for one or two people or a family with younger children. Les Pommiers is not suitable for a wheelchair. However, the sofa-bed/kitchen and sitting room area, plus shower room/WC are all at ground floor level. Possiblity of bringing your pet - please enquire.

Special interest holidays

Les Pommiers is ideally situated for cyclists or walkers. A myriad of flat tiny lanes connect the coastal villages to beaches. The undulating bocage is around half an hour by bicycle inland from the coast: a network of high hedged quiet roads and bridleways criss-cross the peninsula. A "Train Touristique" runs from 7th July to 27th August on Tuesdays on Tuesdays and Thursday between St Georges and market towns Portbail and Barneville-Carteret. The Marais region, around half an hour away by car, is a large area of protected marshland with an abundance of waterfowl and bankside mammals. Canoes may be hired at St Sauveur le Vicomte and guided boat trips are available with stops at both a restaurant and a café. A treetop adventure trail is available at St Sauveur le Vicomte.

Distances

The sailing resorts of Portbail and Barneville-Carteret are both 10 minutes drive from the studio.

Guest comments

This lovely gite was exactly what we were looking for: cosy, romantic and calm and also offering everything we needed. How to describe the past week....? Reading, resting, laziness, swimming, walking, eating. This is a special place where anything but relaxation seems wrong. Sandra & Sean, Munich.
We have loved staying at Les Pommiers - it has everything we've needed, is very comfortable and is so peaceful! We ate at the local restaurant, Le Clos Rubier, twice - fantastic food and service - well worth a visit. C & T, London
A gem of a cottage. And Normandy surpassed all my expectations. A brilliant combination. Ruth, Baldock, UK.
Quelques jours très agrèables aux Les Pommiers. Loin de tout, de petit gite chaleureux, accueillant et confortable nous a permis de profiter de nos jours de vacances. Michelle & Stephanie, Paris.
